Christmas 2016 Lookback
On The Gogglebox...

We seemed to have settled into a pattern with our two major broadcasters BBC and ITV where they first show a general Christmas trailer showing off the brand (or rather, the viewers who watch the shows produced by the brand), and then later a trailer which focuses on the shows themselves.

The BBC nowadays goes one better, with a set of shorter ads showing different categories of programmes...

...and also an online-only showcase ad that runs to a few minutes.

ITV historically doesn’t give Christmas too much attention - it long ago realised that it lost that particular ratings battle to the BBC - but it gives the season more than a token effort.
