Well hello :) We're back, you're here, and that can only mean one thing:
IT'S ONE HUNDRED DAYS TO GO TILL CHRISTMAS DAY!!
It's been a long old year, hasn't it? And we STILL don't know what this Christmas will look like as the country does what it needs to do in order to cope with All That. Christmas In July didn't really happen, and the Christmas Press Shows haven't really replaced them. There's a ton of uncertainty now about who we can spend Christmas with, and maybe we're going to have to get used to taking Christmas as it comes, rather than making any big plans this time around.
Me (Linus) and Nick are fine, thankfully - the virus hasn't hit us yet, but then we've been ultra-paranoid about avoiding it. Some of our friends, family and neighbours haven't been as lucky, unfortunately, but they've made it through a hellish time mostly unscathed.
But whilst we wanted to address the elephant in the room, that's all we're going to say about it, really. We're going to do our best to be a distraction from All That.
So, how are are going to do that?
Did you know that this is our TENTH CHRISTMAS RUN-UP?! To celebrate, we created a series of YouTube videos showing off the best ads of the past ten years, plus quite a few classics from before we started, together with a monster two-hour-plus video showing off the Top 100 Christmas Ads Of The 2010s - they're all great for bingeing to, and also having on in the background whilst carrying out your own Christmas preparations. You can expect us to plug those pretty heavily throughout this Run-Up!
We've also put up our traditional 2019 Lookback and 12 Ads Of Christmas features on the website, and we'll be rattling through them all during the beginning of this Christmas Run-Up as things are usually pretty quiet whilst it's still September :)
We're in two minds about covering Christmas Markets this year - things are changing so quickly that we're afraid of recommending something that turned out to be cancelled at very short notice. Generally we advise avoiding crowds this time around, but there should be a few Covid-safe events out there somewhere.
We're going to take this Christmas as it comes, and we'll let you know when the good stuff happens :) We hope you'll enjoy following us as we take you through it all!
